Interesting analysis by Bloomberg Businessweek on Google's redesigned search results pages. Businessweek reporters had access to the Google UI team. Among the learnings: there's still no substitute for whitespace, navigation should probably be on the left, and underlining some links is necessary to avoid confusion. And, then there's my favorite: sometimes, being redundant is a good thing.

Not long from now, we'll be looking at this video and think how quaint it is. It would be as interesting as a video on the "state of electricity" or "state of telephony*." Yeah, we get it. It's important. Everyone uses it, and a lot of amazing things happen because of it.
