Qdoba sent me an e-mail offer this morning for a coupon that is one-day-only and geo-targeted, with weather-related messaging ("Stormy Weather - Buy One Get One Free"). Although the execution of this program could have been better*, I'll applaud their efforts: it's the first time I've seen an mass-customized offer of this type that tries to use current, local weather conditions as the hook.
*It's been cloudy but hasn't rained today. Perhaps they could have saved this message for a day with greater chance of precipitation. Separately, and not to be picky, but the e-mail has the wrong expiry date: a pretty bad mistake to make. The ultimate coupon (requires user to clickthrough to Qdoba.com) has the correct date.
UPDATE - 8/19, the next day: I received a duplicate e-mail with the same single-day-expiry offer. But today is a sunny day with no chance of rain. My applause might need to be downgraded to a golf clap.
